A recent cyberattack allowed criminals to steal about $20 million in USDT and Ethereum from crypto wallets belonging to the US government. According to Arkham analysts, the assets were gradually transferred from government wallets to unknown addresses.
The incident occurred with the Bitfinex wallet, where the confiscated funds were stored. The hackers withdrew some of the assets through Binance and Swiftchain, then divided them into smaller amounts - they are probably now being "laundered".
It turns out that they confiscated what was confiscated! 😅 This event once again highlights the vulnerability of crypto assets and makes us think about the security of even government digital wallets.
