The Bitcoin network hash rate has reached a groundbreaking peak of 725.88 exahashes per second (EH/s) for the first time in history. Imagine: 725 trillion hashes are being processed every second to secure the network. That's a huge number! Over the past year, from October 20, 2023 to today, the network's computing power has increased by a whopping 62.55%, which equates to an increase of 279 EH/s in just 12 months.

This surge in computing power has naturally pushed Bitcoin's difficulty to challenging heights, currently just shy of its all-time high (ATH) set on September 10, 2024. And it doesn't stop there — come October 22, the next difficulty adjustment is expected to bring a 4.36% increase, potentially pushing the difficulty to a whole new ATH. Around 60 different mining pools were actively contributing SHA256 hashrate to Bitcoin's blockchain as of Monday afternoon. Over the past three days, Foundry USA has led the way, accounting for 29.9% of the hashrate with 216.36 EH/s, while Antpool followed with 23.11% and 167.19 EH/s. These two mining giants continue to be major players in the ever-competitive bitcoin mining landscape.
