The US government has recognized Bitfinex as the only victim entitled to compensation for damages following the 2016 hack. The hack resulted in the theft of 120,000 BTC (worth $5.8 billion today).
Bitfinex previously compensated users in BFX tokens, which were fully redeemed by 2017.
