DiscusFish, a Chinese cryptocurrency tycoon and co-founder of F2Pool, announced that some of the Ethereum he managed had been stolen, with the specific amount being 12,083 Ethereum coins, worth more than 200 million yuan, sparking heated discussions in the Chinese crypto community. He reflected on this and sounded a security alarm for the cryptocurrency community.

On September 28, a certain address signed a phishing contract signature, resulting in the theft of 12,083 spETH, worth about $32.43 million. The on-chain detective ZachXBT found that the victim and czsamsun (Shenyu address 0x902) on Debank transferred 9 digits to each other, so they are likely to be the same entity.

Then on October 9, Shenyu wrote on Twitter: "The most unfortunate thing in life is that you occasionally make a mistake in your words, but no harm comes to you; you occasionally make a mistake in your plan, but your work and salary are successful; you occasionally act recklessly and gain a small profit. Later, you regard it as a normal thing and don't care about it. Then the greatest trouble will arise from this."

According to BITWU.ETH, an opinion leader in the Chinese cryptocurrency circle, “Shenyu was robbed of 12083spWETH worth 200 million yuan. This is probably because this happened once before, but the hacker eventually returned the assets. Shenyu did not take any warning and think deeply about a series of problems, which led to even bigger problems this time.”

He further explained the Shenyu post: "This passage, from the writings of Master Hongyi, means that if people are not immediately punished for their occasional gaffes, mistakes, or indulgences, but instead receive some benefits, they may regard this as the norm and stop caring about it. This attitude may eventually lead to greater disasters."

"So, don't let your guard down just because a small mistake doesn't bring immediate consequences, and don't be secretly happy because a small fluke brings you benefits, as this will lead to a big mistake."

It is reported that the theft occurred on an Ethereum wallet address managed by Shenyu, and the hacker exploited a vulnerability in the smart contract to attack. Specifically, the hacker bypassed the wallet's security check mechanism through carefully constructed transactions and successfully transferred the funds out.

After the incident, Shenyu quickly took countermeasures, including cooperating with exchanges and security agencies to track the flow of funds and trying to recover the losses through legal means. However, given the anonymity and irreversibility of blockchain transactions, it is not easy to recover the stolen funds.

Shenyu also posted a message last Saturday (October 12) that attracted attention. He wrote: "Recently I checked a batch of old addresses from 1,000 days ago. Some addresses still have funds in the old contracts, but they are not displayed on the front end. Thanks to ArkhamIntel for reminding me in a timely manner and helping me recover the funds. I can truly feel the warmth and progress of this industry."
