On October 8, at the National Assembly session, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung proposed adding the concept of "Digital Assets" to the draft Law on Digital Technology Industry. This is the first time this concept has been included in a legal document in Vietnam, marking an important step forward in building a legal framework for the digital economy.

According to the draft, digital assets are defined as intangible assets that exist in the form of digital data, created, issued, stored and traded in an electronic environment. These assets will be protected by law as property rights through intellectual property regulations and related civil regulations. Notably, crypto assets are also classified as digital assets.

### Feedback from leaders:

- National Assembly Chairman - Mr. Tran Thanh Man emphasized: "We need to standardize new concepts such as digital assets, artificial intelligence, encrypted assets... to ensure consistency in the law."

- Chairman of the Law Committee - Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung also agreed, saying that adding the concept of digital assets is necessary for Vietnam to keep up with global trends, helping to promote the development of the digital economy in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

The formalization of the concept of “digital assets” in the legal system not only demonstrates the government’s determination to update and adjust the legal framework in line with technological development trends, but is also an important step forward in protecting the rights of participants in the digital market. However, experts emphasize that time is still needed for thorough discussion and careful review to ensure that this concept is implemented in the most effective and appropriate manner.
