Who is Len Sassaman? Why does HBO think he is Satoshi Nakmoto?

Recently, the Crypto community has been paying great attention to HBO's upcoming film about Satoshi Nakamoto - the father of Bitcoin.

Specifically, on October 3, HBO released a trailer for its latest documentary and confirmed that it will reveal the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto - one of the biggest mysteries in the finance & technology world.

Since Bitcoin was born in 2009, the global financial community has always paid great attention to the true identity of Satoshi - especially when this person's wallet address is holding 1.1 million BTC (Bitcoin).

The film will premiere at 8pm the day after tomorrow (October 9) - Vietnam time, edited by director Cullen Hoback with the title: “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery”.

Director Hoback is known for the HBO miniseries “Q: Into the Storm” - about Donald Trump having to fight against “demons in disguise” in Hollywood.

Although director Hoback hasn't specifically revealed who Satoshi Nakamoto will be in the trailer, traders on the Polymarket prediction market have been quick to place bets on who HBO is most likely referring to.

As of October 7, 44.5% of traders (total volume of $112,000) were betting that Len Sassaman was the person mentioned in the film. Other potential candidates include Bitcoin programmer Hal Finney (14%), computer scientist Adam Back (9.3%), programming expert Nick Szabo (7.9%),

Alex Thorn (head of digital asset research at Galaxy Digital) also predicted that HBO will conclude that Satoshi Nakamoto is Len Sassaman - a programming expert who committed suicide in 2011.

Len Sassaman is a well-known figure in the Cypherpunks community - a computer privacy movement that began in the late 1980s. Born in Pennsylvania (USA) and considered a cryptography prodigy, he has worked on projects such as Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) software and the GNU Privacy Guard update.

Despite his talent, Sassaman suffered from depression as a teenager. On July 3, 2011, Sassaman decided to leave at the age of 31.

Notably, Satoshi “disappeared” two months before Sassaman’s death. On April 23, 2011, Satoshi sent his final email to the Bitcoin community.

All in all, it’s all speculation and nothing is certain about Satoshi’s true identity. Let’s wait for the show tomorrow night to see who HBO thinks is Satoshi Nakamoto!
