Ethereum’s EIP-7781 to Improve Overall Throughput by 33%

A new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) to increase overall throughput by 50%.

EIP 7781 will reduce block times by 33% and increase blob capacity to 9 per block.

In addition, the improved proposal would improve the distribution of bandwidth usage.

The Ethereum blockchain has introduced a new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-7781) to improve network performance. Released on Saturday, the proposal is set to provide several benefits to the network. Notably, it would reduce block creation times from 12 seconds to 8 seconds, resulting in a 50% increase in overall throughput.

According to a post on X by a market observer, EIP-7781 will reduce the slot time for lower peak bandwidth. It would increase transaction throughput by 33% without increasing individual block or blob counts. Additionally, it will also distribute bandwidth usage over time to reduce peak bandwidth requirements, thereby maintaining network efficiency.
