Christie’s will provide blockchain-based certificates of ownership for each lot when it auctions “An Eye Towards the Real: Photographs from the Collection of Ambassador Trevor Traina” at Rockefeller Center in New York on Wednesday. These digital certificates will be minted by wallet provider Kresus using the Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain Base developed by Coinbase. The pilot program aims to provide art collectors with greater transparency and security through blockchain technology. This is the second time Christie’s has tried blockchain innovation in art auctions following the auction of Beeple’s “Everyday” series in 2021. (CoinDesk)
