**EU Kicks Off AI Code of Practice Development**

The European Union is taking a major step in AI regulation with the launch of its "General-Purpose AI Code of Practice." Announced on Sept. 30, this initiative is led by the European AI Office and involves nearly 1,000 experts from academia, industry, and civil society.

The project aims to create a framework addressing transparency, copyright, risk assessment, and internal governance for AI models. Four working groups, featuring notable experts like AI researcher Nuria Oliver and copyright specialist Alexander Peukert, will drive the development.

The final draft is expected by April 2025, setting a global precedent for AI governance.
