PANews reported on September 30 that according to Jinshi, Google (GOOG.O) is following the pace of global technology companies in increasing cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Southeast Asia and plans to invest $1 billion in data centers in Thailand. Google will add factories in Bangkok and Chonburi Province, southeast of Bangkok. The company cited a Deloitte study on Monday saying that by 2029, the expenditure could help Thailand's economy add $4 billion and provide 14,000 jobs annually over the next five years. The investment was jointly announced by Google and Thailand's recently appointed Prime Minister Petunthan, highlighting the efforts of Southeast Asian governments to attract foreign technology companies.
