Billy Markus, who co-created the first meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) with Jackson Palmer in 2013, shared his opinion on the recent 21% increase in the value of this cryptocurrency. Markus, known for his ironic and critical stance on the crypto market, added his usual sarcasm. Why Did DOGE Rise by 20%? Markus Comments

Last week, Dogecoin, the largest meme cryptocurrency by market capitalization, surprised the crypto community when its value soared by more than 21%.

From Wednesday to Saturday, DOGE rose from $0.10745 to a local peak of $0.13080, marking nearly a 22% increase. Markus responded on X (formerly Twitter) by saying that he had "no clue" what caused this significant rise. During a Q&A session with his followers on the social media platform, he explained that this was just another instance where people ask him about cryptocurrency price movements, even though he has no definitive answer.

When someone pointed out that his response might have been too brief, Markus replied: "This is basically my answer to any question related to cryptocurrency prices." Despite this, he noted that people still bombard him with questions about the reasons behind price fluctuations in cryptocurrencies.

While DOGE surged, large investors (whales) bought billions of coins during these days. According to a report by U.Today, major crypto whales added 1.4 billion DOGE to their portfolios within 48 hours, which amounted to approximately $140 million in fiat.

Additionally, over the weekend, another unknown whale acquired 1.4 billion DOGE, to which Markus responded simply with “wat.”

Markus: No Plans to Create Any New Cryptocurrencies

In a recent tweet, Billy Markus clarified that aside from Dogecoin and Bells (another cryptocurrency he created before Doge), he is not associated with any other cryptocurrencies.

He warned that anyone claiming otherwise is attempting to deceive the crypto community and potential investors. He further confirmed that he has no plans to create any new cryptocurrency or join any team working on one. He also reiterated that he does not intend to launch any new meme coin.

Markus revisits this explanation from time to time, as many users continue to ask him about the possibility of launching a new cryptocurrency.
