Despite the fact that the dust from the hamster's fall has not yet settled. And the furry body is still warm, I want to draw attention to how the #TON network handled the largest drop in the history of the blockchain.
On Thursday, September 26, the TON network experienced a threefold increase in transactions per second thanks to the listing of the Hamster Kombat token.
The drop was the first to feature Mintless Jetton technology.
It is noteworthy that most users did not specify their TON wallet address in advance, so only about 10 million of them received coins using this new method. The rest receive coins by withdrawing them themselves from a special smart contract.
The TonAPI infrastructure, Tonkeeper Pro, Tonviewer and hundreds of other applications and services in the TON ecosystem, received a record 300,000 requests per second and handled 1,500,000 simultaneous connections. At the peak, the load on TonAPI increased 10 times.
TonAPI continued to work throughout the day (except for a few crashes on one of the API handlers)
Despite the heavy load, the #TON blockchain continued to consistently create blocks and process transactions. At the time of the Hamster Kombat launch, there were some initial failures in the backends of some wallets, services, and exchanges, including Binance, indicating an unprecedented load on the infrastructure. However, all services were quickly restored.
Let me remind you that these gaming projects have a multi-million audience, and 131 million users are participating in the Hamster airdrop. Most of them have not yet received their coins and the rest will be taken gradually, which will not cause a large load on the network.
TonKeeper provided active support to newcomers in the drop by introducing the "Battery" function
You can charge the battery through in-app purchases or by topping it up with Tones, NOTs or stablecoins.
- 4 charges for NFT transfer.
- 10 charges for token transfer.
- 50 charges for swap.
When a user signs a transaction, the battery is automatically deducted
the required number of charges to pay the commission.
To sum up, we can say with confidence that the blockchain team is doing a lot and correcting the mistakes made in previous drops.
This includes working with node validators - introducing fines. And also improving the infrastructure and stability of the network by introducing new protocols.
Other apps make it easier for newcomers to earn coins and create a positive experience with crypto, which is necessary for future large-scale adoption among a large number of people.
Who else is doing this much for crypto right now?
