Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, commonly known as CZ, is set to be released from prison today, two days ahead of his official release date. CZ had been serving a four-month sentence in the U.S. for failing to implement sufficient anti-money laundering measures at Binance. According to U.S. prison rules, when a release date falls on a weekend, inmates are permitted to leave the preceding weekday, allowing CZ's early release.

However, despite his return to freedom, CZ’s future at Binance is heavily restricted. As part of his plea deal, he is barred from holding any executive or board position at the company for at least three years. While he remains the largest shareholder of Binance, holding 94 million BNB tokens worth approximately $55 billion, his active management role is indefinitely off the table. The current CEO, Richard Teng, has confirmed CZ’s lifetime ban from managing Binance.

As for CZ's next moves, there's speculation about him either starting new ventures, engaging more deeply in philanthropic efforts, or possibly relocating to Dubai or Paris, where his child resides. CZ has been known for his support of Web3 projects, and many in the community expect him to continue his contributions to the blockchain and crypto industry.

Though CZ is no longer at the helm of Binance, the exchange continues to thrive, now boasting over 229 million users globally under its current leadership.
