Mercado Bitcoin

Mercado Bitcoin announced the structuring of a Digital Fixed Income token backed by bonds and FGTS consignment, in the anniversary withdrawal modality.

The asset was created in partnership with fintech Prata Digital, which specializes in granting personal credit.

Mercado Bitcoin token is part of a larger strategy

Mercado Bitcoin’s tokenized FGTS is part of the exchange’s plan to launch Digital Fixed Income assets that are attractive to the international market. MB’s director of new business, Fabrício Tota, told BeInCrypto that this is a way to allow investors abroad to have access to products that are typically Brazilian.

To this end, the exchange seeks to occupy what it called “segments underserved by the Brazilian private credit market, mainly for transactions of up to R$100 million”.

Furthermore, Mercado Bitcoin explained that the token’s profitability is associated with the anticipation of the FGTS anniversary withdrawal. “Thus, the asset revolutionizes the investment universe through tokenization,” said the exchange.

The product's yield will be equal to CDI + 1.5%, with a term of 77 months. It is possible to buy tokens from R$100. According to MB, the expected return is over 14% per year. In addition, more than 60% of the FGTS anniversary withdrawal advances were transferred to financial institutions.

Finally, the company explained that the operation totaled R$50 million, with its sales divided into tranches.

“In recent years, MB Corporate has specialized in offering individual clients structured and dispersed credits with a very advantageous risk/return profile. These products are usually in the portfolio of bank treasuries or FIDCs, with little access to retailers and less attractive conditions than ours,” adds Alexandre Reda, head of structuring and products at MB Corporate.
