Today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed new features for Ray-Ban smart glasses during the Meta Connect 2024 event. The glasses are now equipped with advanced AI technologies, such as the ability to remember things the user has seen, such as where they parked their car or remind them to send messages at a specific time. One of the most notable new features is instant language translation between English, French, Spanish, and Italian, which will be very useful for travelers or in multilingual situations.
Additionally, the glasses can now scan QR codes, and provide instant assistance through Meta’s AI, where the user can ask questions about what they see in their surroundings. Integration with platforms like Spotify and Audible has also been enhanced to provide hands-free control of music and audiobooks. A special edition with transparent frames and light-adaptive lenses has also been announced.
These updates make the glasses more useful for everyday tasks, expanding their use as a technical device and also as a fashion accessory.
In the future, we may witness integrations with cryptocurrencies or blockchain technologies, especially since Meta is working on developing virtual reality and augmented reality technologies that may overlap with the uses of cryptocurrency in virtual environments such as the Metaverse.
