Ripple is gearing up for the launch of its new stablecoin, RLUSD, which is set to debut soon. Despite the ongoing preparations, some remain skeptical about whether RLUSD will significantly impact the price of XRP. What started as a joke has now gained serious momentum, sparking bold predictions about XRP’s future price.
RLUSD is being developed on the XRP Ledger, where XRP remains the native token. Analysts have said that no new token, including RLUSD, can replace XRP on the ledger. Instead, the introduction of such tokens is expected to increase the overall liquidity and value of the network, much like new assets on Ethereum. Rather than diminishing the importance of XRP, RLUSD is seen as a boost to its ecosystem.
A speculative theory, called the “Million Dollar Drop Theory,” has fueled even more excitement. It suggests that if 1 RLUSD is pegged to $1 and tied to a drop in XRP (the smallest divisible unit of XRP), the value of XRP could potentially rise to $1 million. While this idea remains uncertain, it has captured the attention of investors.
Crypto Tank wrote on X, “1 xrp has 1 million dips. Once the price of XRP increases, dips will come into play significantly. So if 1 RLUSD = $1 USD, and 1 RLUSD is paired with 1 XRP dip in the future, then 1 XRP would = $1 million USD. David was asked about this, but kind of dodged the question. It’s 100% possible.”
He said that RLUSD will be worth $1, but XRP is expected to go much higher. When supply is low and prices rise, many people will buy small amounts of XRP. Just as most people can’t afford a whole Bitcoin at $60,000 and buy fractions instead, XRP has a million dip. So, one dip could be worth one RLUSD.
This speculation coincides with other developments, including Grayscale’s creation of an XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF), the SEC’s admission that XRP is not a security, and Ripple’s strong banking partnerships. With all of these factors in play, many believe that 2025 could be a transformative year for XRP.
