The global AI products market will reach $990 billion by 2027. This opinion was expressed by experts from the consulting firm Bain in a report.

The AI industry, including the services and hardware segments, will grow by 40-55% annually, starting from the $185 billion recorded last year. This will lead to revenues of $780 billion to $990 billion, Bain estimates.

Growth will be driven by the development of larger AI systems, larger data centers to train and operate them, and companies and governments using the technology to improve efficiency.

Demand is growing so fast that it could cause problems in the supply chain for components such as chips, Bain said. Combined with geopolitical tensions, the surge in sales could cause shortages of semiconductors, PCs and smartphones.

Demand for microchip components could grow by 30% or more by 2026, putting pressure on manufacturers, Bain experts said. The cost of large data centers will jump from the current $1-4 billion to $10-25 billion in five years. Their capacity will grow to more than a gigawatt from 50-200 megawatts.

“These changes are expected to have a profound impact on the ecosystems that support data centers, including infrastructure, power generation and cooling,” the report said.
