The Telegram mini-game "Hamster Kombat", which has attracted more than 300 million users to the TON ecosystem, will officially issue the token $HMSTR on September 26. However, it has been controversial in the community recently due to the airdrop rules.
The rules of Hamster Fighter airdrop spark controversy
Hamster Kombat officials announced the first season airdrop rules yesterday, pointing out that out of a total of 100 billion $HMSTR tokens, 60 billion tokens will be released in this airdrop, and another 15 billion will be reserved for the upcoming second season airdrop.
However, players who meet the airdrop qualifications for the first season can only receive 88.75% of the tokens on September 26. The remaining 11.25% will have to wait 10 months, which is expected to be July 2025.
The community is angry about being cheated
In addition, Hamster Kombat officials also revealed that although 300 million players have played Hamster Kombat, in the end only about 129 million people were qualified for the empty investment, and about 2.3 million players were disqualified due to cheating.
The community was also quite dissatisfied with the official weighting of airdrop distribution, especially the heavy emphasis on friend recommendations and recently added elements such as earning keys, and criticized that this favored influential influencers and YouTubers, while deceiving ordinary players who have been diligently playing the game for months to accumulate hourly profits (PPH, similar to the level of the game), because the official initially publicly stated that PPH would be the most important airdrop criterion.
The community even launched a boycott, calling on players to refuse to play the game, unsubscribe from Hamster Fighter's YouTube channel, and stop watching videos, so that the team cannot obtain more viewing revenue.
50% of the 6.8 billion tokens from cheaters will be redistributed to honest players
Today (24), apparently in an effort to restore community confidence, the official announced that 50% (3.4 billion) of the 6.8 billion tokens held by 2.3 million players who were identified as cheaters have been redistributed to honest players, and the other 50% will be burned to reduce the supply and increase the deflationary effect.
The official tweet stated:
We've banned over 2.3 million cheaters, enough to fill the city of Rome!
We have taken 6.8 billion tokens from these cheaters. 50% have been distributed to honest players and the other 50% will be burned.
Cheaters do not belong in our community. They automate through software to gain a greater advantage over ordinary players. We care about our players and market participants, especially long-term holders, and want to protect them.
$HMSTR pre-market price performance
However, the community under the tweet did not seem to buy it. Some players still questioned the unfairness of the airdrop rules. Some people said that they would no longer be the CEO of Hamster. Others complained that Hamster had gone from the largest airdrop in history to the worst airdrop in history.
However, most players are still closely watching the performance of $HMSTR on the 26th. $HMSTR has recently been launched on pre-market trading on many exchanges including Bybit, Gate.io, Bitget, BingX, and OKX. At the time of writing, the latest transaction prices on OKX, Bybit, and Bitget are 0.0088, 0.084, and 0.0096 USDT, respectively.
