Shiba Inu (SHIB) enthusiasts and analysts have recently observed an unexpected situation: no SHIB tokens were burned in the past 24 hours.

Normally, some level of token burning occurs regularly, making this inactivity particularly noteworthy. The reported pause in the burn rate, according to Shibburn, is surprising, especially given SHIB's low price, which typically encourages more token burning.

The total number of SHIB burned remains at 410,728,808,987,659 tokens, keeping the circulating supply at 583,491,742,524,222 SHIB. This sudden stop in burning has raised concerns, especially regarding the ShibTorch portal, which was launched recently to automate the burning process. Unlike the previous manual system where community members sent tokens to a burn wallet, ShibTorch was designed to make this process more efficient. However, the absence of burns suggests that the portal may not be operating as intended, or that there has been a decrease in network activity, resulting in fewer tokens being burned.

As the competition among meme coins grows fiercer, Shiba Inu's status as the second-largest meme coin is becoming increasingly threatened.

This situation is putting more pressure on the developers, including Shytoshi Kusama, to continue innovating and adapting to the changing market.
