The price of memecoin suddenly dropped after Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin made a statement. Controversy erupted in the cryptocurrency world when Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, revealed on the Warpcast platform that he and his family do not own dogs.

“My family doesn’t have dogs, only cats,” Buterin said, dismissing popular belief that he has a dog named ‘Misha’.

Following Buterin's announcement, the value of the memecoin MISHA, which is said to be named after Buterin's dog, dropped by more than 50%. The token is currently trading at $0.0000158 and has attracted attention from memecoin enthusiasts.

There has been a recent increase in the number of memecoins claiming to be named after celebrity dogs. If these memecoins are indeed named after celebrity dogs, their prices will increase for a variety of reasons.

A prime example is Elon Musk and his dog Floki. Floki Inu (FLOKI), not a new altcoin, was inspired by Musk's dog and is currently the fifth largest memecoin in the world.
