As of Friday, XRP was the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, according to CoinMarketCap. The cryptocurrency, which aims to facilitate cross-border transactions and reduce surcharges, has been embroiled in a years-long court case in the United States over whether it should be classified as an unregistered security, or a commodity.
