# Cryptocurrency Development: US vs Asia Pacific 🌏

Fiona Murray, managing director of Ripple APAC, said recently that the US has been slow to move forward in cryptocurrency, and while there is hope, the election is unlikely to change that in the short term. However, the US still has a chance to catch up.

She noted that most of Ripple's innovations took place in Singapore, not the US, mainly because of a "lack of open-mindedness" that prompted the founders to go to Asia for fairer conditions.

The Asia-Pacific region provides a stable environment and core infrastructure to promote healthy cryptocurrency development. Partners such as Singapore's DBS Bank are leading the way with the encouragement of regulators and working with responsible Web3 companies.
