🔓 How $243 Million in Bitcoin Was Stolen?
Crypto detective ZachXBT conducted an investigation and found that three fraudsters stole $243 million by using social engineering to steal 4,064 BTC from Genesis and distributing the funds across more than 15 exchanges.
They impersonated Google support staff and gained access to the victim’s account by bypassing two-factor authentication, which resulted in the disclosure of private keys.
ZachXBT also found a video of the criminals immediately after the theft and was able to identify them using public data. Some of the stolen funds were blocked, and the fraudsters were arrested. This case highlights the dangers of online fraud and the importance of protecting personal information.
