The Catizen airdrop caused widespread dissatisfaction among players and investors due to unexpected changes and miscommunication. The development team had initially promised a fair distribution of $CATI tokens based on participation metrics such as in-game progress (vKitty). However, during the process, they discovered that several users were using bots to manipulate their earnings, which resulted in a change in the distribution criteria without prior notice.

This decision has led to frustration, especially among players who performed well but received much smaller rewards than they expected. One case cited was that of a player who, despite being in the top 6,000 out of 36 million participants, only earned 39 tokens, raising questions about the transparency and fairness of the distribution.

Another issue was the reduction in the percentage of tokens distributed. Initially, 43% of the total tokens were to be allocated to the community, but this percentage was reduced to 34%, with 9% being redirected to a Binance Launchpool promotion. Furthermore, only 15% of the tokens were distributed in the first phase, which increased criticism, as many participants expected a larger amount of tokens from the beginning. These changes were seen as a lack of transparency and a prioritization of internal and investor interests over the benefit of the engaged community.
