ChainCatcher News, according to a new poll from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, voters' views of Harris have improved slightly from July, when President Joe Biden had just dropped out of the race. People now view the Democratic presidential candidate more positively than negatively. Former President Donald Trump's approval rating remained stable, although the poll was conducted before the Republican candidate was assassinated on a golf course in Florida on Sunday (September 15).

About half of registered voters currently have a favorable view of Harris, compared to 37% who have a favorable view of Trump. Both candidates are currently at similar levels to where they were in August. The August 2024 poll found that 48% of the public had a favorable view of Harris and 41% had a favorable view of Trump. The latest poll found that 88% of Democratic voters have a favorable view of Harris, while 77% of Republican voters have a positive view of Trump.
