According to ChainCatcher, Hex and PulseChain founder Richard Schueler (also known as Richard Heard or Richard Heart) is currently under criminal investigation in Finland for serious tax evasion and assault.
According to local Finnish media YLE, Finnish police suspect Schuler, who lives in Helsinki, of aggravated tax evasion and assault. Helsinki police detective Harry Saaristoula told the newspaper that Schuler is suspected of owing Finland hundreds of millions of euros in taxes. Saaristoula explained that the investigation was prompted by discrepancies between Schuler's tax returns and the tax office's income assessments.
Schuler was detained in absentia on September 13, meaning he was not present at the time. Authorities do not know where he is currently. Finnish authorities said they estimated Schuler's income in 2023 to be more than 15.2 million euros, but the tax evasion charges were not related to his capital income. Finnish law enforcement said they believe the cryptocurrency founder created, launched and marketed his cryptocurrencies in Finland, and that the marketing of these projects extended internationally.
