According to Blockworks, MagicBlock, a gaming company based on Solana, has completed a $3 million pre-seed round of financing, with venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) participating in the investment.

MagicBlock is developing a game engine that allows video games to run entirely on-chain. The company has addressed the problem of slow blockchains with a new technique called “temporary rollups,” which temporarily moves Solana’s state to a higher-throughput rollup before returning it to layer one.

The company plans to use the new funds to expand the team, develop technology, bring its game engine to the Solana mainnet, and collaborate with on-chain games.
