Lab participants will lead digital transformation
In a sign of Qatar’s embrace of digital assets, QFC, the region’s leading financial and business hub, announced the launch of its Digital Asset Lab on September 14. The lab boasts a hand-picked group of 24 participants who will receive comprehensive support to develop, test, and ultimately commercialize their innovative digital solutions and services.
Notable participants include industry heavyweights such as ALT Realtech, Bladelabs, Polygon, and Partior. These innovators are expected to leverage distributed ledger technology (DLT) to solve industry challenges and lead digital transformation across sectors.
To further enhance the lab's capabilities and provide participants with invaluable knowledge and industry insights, QFC has entered into a strategic partnership with a consortium of international organizations. These include Google Cloud, Masraf Al Rayan, The Hashgraph Association, and R3.
Commenting on the activation of QFC Digital Assets Lab, QFC CEO Yousuf Mohamed Al Jaida said:
“I am delighted that the Digital Asset Lab has officially launched, with 24 participants working on technologies with various applications. Their collective efforts and expertise will be critical to advancing digital asset solutions across industries. The technologies we aim to develop through the Lab will support our goal of creating a sustainable and secure financial sector, fostering a thriving wealth management hub, and positioning Qatar at the forefront of innovation.”
Launched in October 2023, the Digital Asset Lab aims to support organizations exploring use cases such as trade finance, real-world asset tokenization, and carbon credit tokenization. According to the announcement, the lab and its participants will work within the QFC Digital Assets Framework, which aims to provide a secure and transparent digital asset ecosystem.
