Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is safe after what the FBI said appeared to be an assassination attempt on September 15 from outside Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. đLaw enforcement officials said at a press conference on September 15 afternoon that the gunman was in some bushes near the golf course's boundary as Secret Service agents were clearing "security holes" to protect Trump and they discovered a rifle barrel in the bushes.
Agents engaged the gunman and fired at least four rounds around 1:30 p.m. on September 15. The gunman then threw away the rifle, two backpacks and other items and fled in a black Nissan.
đThe Palm Beach County Sheriff said a witness saw the gunman and took a photo of the car and its license plate.
Authorities then sent out an alert to agencies across the state with information about the car, and neighboring Martin County deputies stopped the car and arrested the suspect on I-95.
