In the article "What You Need to Know About Music Tycoon's Upcoming "Performances" Feature", we took a deep dive into how players can earn CRED FT (Fungible Tokens) through performances. Now, let's unveil another way to earn FT CNOTES. To earn CNOTES, players must enter the recording studio, record beautiful and moving songs, and participate in a weekly global streaming competition to compete with all other Tycoons. The global streaming competition selects a music genre every week, and the top 500 songs will be rewarded.
Recording Songs
To start recording a song, first click on the RECORDING tab in the top navigation bar, then click on the RENT ROOM button.
You will be offered three studios to choose from. Once you pay the rent, the studio you selected will be added to your studio inventory, which can be found through the "Recording" tab in the navigation menu. The system will randomly determine which studio appears in the three locations. Studios are just in-game items, not NFTs that can be bought or sold.
There are five levels of recording studios, each with different costs and rewards:
Bronze: 25 CRED cost (0% high quality song reward) 64% drop chance
Silver: 80 CRED cost (1.5% higher quality song reward) 20% drop chance
Gold: 210 CRED cost (5% high quality song reward) 10% drop chance
Platinum: 575 CRED cost (15% higher quality song bonus) 5% drop chance
Diamond: 720 CRED cost (20% high quality song reward) 1% drop chance
*Please note: The following changes will occur after the game is officially released (current studio rental fees are priced to take this into account):
Bronze Studios allow for 1 team member and 1 piece of equipment
Silver Studios allow for 1 team member and 3 pieces of equipment
Gold Studio allows 2 team members and 4 pieces of equipment
Platinum Studios allow for 3 team members and 4 pieces of equipment
Diamond Studios allow for 4 team members and 6 pieces of equipment
Enter the recording studio
While you can choose to go into a studio and record your songs alone, it’s often easier to record your songs with the help of experienced team members and advanced equipment. Before expanding your team, let’s take a look at the various recording studios that can be used for song production.
Each studio can only be used once, and there is no limit on the rarity of the artist NFT. This may change in the future, but there is no such limit now. Each studio can be equipped with up to six pieces of equipment and recruit four team members. As mentioned above, after the game is officially launched, different studios will have different restrictions on the number of team members and equipment, but early players will not be restricted and will have an advantage over later players. There are four types of team members, namely "Composer", "Recording Engineer", "Producer" and "Artist Manager". There are six types of equipment, namely "Headphones", "Microphone", "Effects Rack", "Amplifier", "Monitor" and "Recording Desk". It is worth noting that these team members and equipment are all NFTs, and they are all one-time. Once used, the NFT will be destroyed and cannot be returned. There is a modal in the game that reminds players of this.
Equip your studio with team members (matching music genres) and gear for the best results
After successfully renting a recording studio, enter the studio, equip the equipment, deploy the team members, prepare the artist NFT, and click the "RECORD" button to generate a song. The name of the song is randomly assigned by the system, and the song will receive a quality score after it is generated, ranging from "F" (lowest level) to "S+" (highest level). The higher the score level, the greater the possibility of entering the top 500 in the weekly streaming competition. To understand how song grading works, please see the "How does song grading work?" section below. In short, the lack of equipment or team members will reduce the song level, while higher-quality team members and equipment will give you a higher level, thereby getting more plays.
Artists also bring their own bonuses in the recording studio. The higher the rarity level of the artist's NFT, the greater the bonus to the quality of the song:
Ordinary artist NFT: 0%
Rare Artist NFTs: 3%
Rare Artist NFTs: 7.5%
Epic Artist NFTs: 11%
Legendary Artist NFT: 22%
Each recorded song can only be entered once per week, but there is no expiration date for songs, and you can submit the song in different types of weekly competitions. Since there is no fee to enter, we encourage everyone to submit all works. As long as it enters the top 500 of the charts, each song will receive a reward.
To manage and view your songs, click on the LABEL button in the navigation bar. There you will see a detailed list of the songs you own, sortable by genre, and their status.
How do song ratings work?
To get the highest possible score for your song, you need to understand how it works. While we won't lay out the exact formula, we can tell you that the studio and all the NFTs used will set a floor for the score of the track. If you throw a low-end artist into a low-end studio without any equipment or team members, you can expect to get a very low score that will be at the bottom of the grade. In fact, if you do this, you might get an "F" score, and the probability of this happening is only 0.3%. But if you put the same artist in a studio with a lot of high-scoring team members and equipment, and the studio itself is of a high enough grade, then your score will be significantly improved.
We will then take an additional measure of the artist NFT you used to record your song, which will represent your tier cap. The higher the cap, the more likely you are to receive a higher rating. After determining the lower and upper limits, we will calculate a score value that will correspond to a letter grade. During the weekly streaming contest, we will take this letter grade into account to determine how many streams a song will receive.
Now, with this knowledge at your fingertips, head into the studio and create some magic!
Once you've recorded your song, go to the COMPETITION section to view the type of competition that week and confirm which songs are eligible to enter.
Click the SUBMIT button on the song you want to enter. In the WEEKLY COMPETITION section (pictured above), you'll find out when the contest ends and what genres artists can enter. Once the contest is over, check back to see how many CNOTES you might have won.
You can then return to the Discography tab to see which songs you have submitted in the current contest.
Each song that enters the top 500 will receive CNOTES, and the CNOTES received are as follows:
