Back to school. I'm sure you know that phrase, if you have children, 100%, and if you don't, that's fine too, because I'm sure some family member or friend has children and I've mentioned it from time to time.
Today will be different because it is about going back to school but in trading. Back to school in trading
Although it may seem strange, it is more difficult than it seems, and it is mainly for two reasons.
1) Never fully disconnects
2) When you are not there the market continues and when you return it is different. It never completely disconnects.
That's right, it never completely disconnects.
If you are a trader and you don't trade, say for a week, it's hard not to look at what the market has done at some point.
In my case it is impossible and I think it is for two reasons.
The first is that I like it a lot, a lot, and even if I don't operate, I always look at what I've done. It's like brushing your teeth, every day automatically without thinking.
The second reason is that when I teach I always receive questions from students and I answer them without any problem. I like it and it is also my job.
Now let's go with the important thing
When you are not there the market continues and when you return it is different.
That simple and clear.
After a few days without trading, your own mind makes the market an obstacle.
Before vacation, decisions are made automatically, things are clear, but when you return, they are not.
Going back to school is not pleasant, it makes things that are well known no longer so, that mental fluidity is not fine, it is not adjusted.
And that costs money in the form of errors.
This leads to a loss of confidence and is the fish that bites its tail.
The market continues. What does that mean?
That while you are away the market does not stop, it does what it has to do.
The speed, the tempo, the volatility is certainly different. And you don't get that right away.
It takes a few days to get everything back in place. How do we get back to where we left off?
In summary...
How do we deal with going back to school?
Don't be in a hurry
Every day it opens, they are not civil servants or union members, you can work every day.
Reduce leverage
Little by little, you will have time to do what you used to do.
Analyze coldly
Do your pre-trading routine in a calmer and more analytical way, don't rush in, you have time.
If the operation fails, it was not for you.
Do not operate on the first day.
When you return, take the first day to look at the chart and do not trade. Trade from the second day onwards.
You see, we all have to go back to school in one way or another, I hope yours has been good.
