📉 DeFi Needs More Interoperability, Not New Apps or Infrastructure 📉
Many believe that DeFi is too focused on infrastructure and not enough on apps. This year, VCs and investors have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into projects focused on infrastructure.
🌟 Key Events:
In Q1, VC firm a16z invested $100 million in Eigen Layer, a re-staking protocol for Ethereum. Private equity firms Bridgewater Capital and Deus X Capital teamed up to build a $250 million infrastructure platform. RW3 Ventures raised $60 million for a fund focused exclusively on blockchain infrastructure and DeFi.
💬 Focus on Infrastructure:
Many have come to the conclusion that we need to focus less on infrastructure and more on apps. It’s like creating a great theme park without rides: a beautiful park without rides won’t attract visitors.
🧩 UX Issue:
The main problem is that the user experience in DeFi leaves much to be desired. Switching between dapps, cross-chain transactions, and integrations remain complex and inconvenient for regular users.
