According to Bitcoinist, the Singapore Parliament passed an amendment to the Casino Control Act on September 10, further strengthening the effectiveness of the country's casino regulatory system and strengthening protection measures for vulnerable groups. The amendment includes a ban on the use of cryptocurrencies in casinos, mainly for the purpose of preventing money laundering and other related criminal activities. Under the newly revised bill, the Singapore Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) will be given greater power to regulate more forms of gambling activities in casinos, including betting and lotteries. Although the new bill allows two casinos in Singapore to conduct cashless gambling operations, it explicitly prohibits the use of cryptocurrencies.
