Polygon makes a gorgeous turn, MATIC officially changes its name to POL, leading the new era of blockchain!
As the crypto space continues to evolve, the networks that support blockchains must also keep up with this ever-changing blockchain environment. Polygon (formerly known as MATIC) has been at the forefront of this, positioning itself as a scalable, secure and stable platform for Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks.
But now, Polygon's journey is about to reach a new level, that is, the important transformation of the MATIC token to POL. This is not just a rebranding, but also a strategic move to enhance the network's capabilities.
This includes upgrading from Polygon's Proof of Stake (PoS) to Validium's zkEVM, building POL into a scalable base asset, creating a new token economic model, and introducing a new governance structure. This long-awaited milestone was reached on September 4, 2024, when the MATIC token was officially renamed POL.
With a conversion ratio of 1:1, the new token retains the original token economic model and is launched with an initial supply of $10 billion. In addition, after launch, staked MATIC will automatically convert to POL.
