🇯🇵 Japanese Energy Corporation Tests BTC Mining Using Solar Power

Tepco Electric Power Corporation is testing the use of SURPLUS solar power to run Bitcoin mining machines.

The company has already installed mining machines in Gunma and Tochigi prefectures to take advantage of this natural energy source.

If renewable energy accounts for 50% of the electricity supply, Japan could waste up to 240,000 gigawatt hours per year.

It is estimated that using just 10% of this surplus electricity to mine Bitcoin could generate about 360 billion yen ($2.5 billion) per year.
