At the recent Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has become one of the world leaders in Bitcoin mining. This achievement is mainly due to excess energy resources in regions such as Siberia. Putin stressed that while mining activities are booming, local development should not be hindered.
đ°According to a report by Sergey Bezdlov, chairman of the Industrial Mining Association, Russia produced 54,000 bitcoins in 2023, bringing more than $550 million in tax revenue to the country. Bezdlov also pointed out that with the approval of the cryptocurrency mining law, the influx of new investors will further drive the growth of this number.
