First hardware wallet to implement Silent Payments: BitBox02

According to BitBox, silent payments are a fact and will be available to wallet users in an upcoming update.

The exact date for the arrival of the update is not known.

Silent payments generate unique taproot addresses each time a static address is used.

Shift Crypto, the Swiss company behind the creation of the BitBox02 hardware wallet, announced that it will release an update that allows sending silent payments from its physical wallet.

“We are proud to announce that BitBox02 is the first hardware wallet that can make silent Bitcoin payments securely,” the company said. This feature will be available to all BitBox02 users in a “future update.” The exact release date of the update is not known, although the tone of the announcement indicates that it would already be ready, tested and only needs to be published.

BitBox assures in its announcement on the X network that the possibility of sending silent payments is a fact, but does not clarify whether it will be possible to receive them in a BitBox02. So far, the three wallets that support these payments were: Cake Wallet, BlueWallet and Silentium, and not all of them allow receiving payments. BlueWallet only allows sending them
