Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has spoken out about his arrest in France, emphasizing the company's commitment to protecting human rights and user privacy.
Durov breaks silence after arrest
Pavel Durov, the head of Telegram, has spoken out for the first time since his recent arrest in Paris. In a message posted on his channel, he said he spent four days in custody and was questioned by French authorities.
During interrogations, Durov said, the authorities suggested that he could be held accountable for the illegal activities of platform users, citing the lack of response to official inquiries. However, Durov noted that neither he nor Telegram's European office had received warnings from the French government prior to his arrest.
Background of relations with the French authorities
Durov also expressed surprise at the situation, recalling that he had repeatedly visited the French consulate in Dubai and had never encountered such problems before.
