Promote blockchain research and strengthen technological development
Recently, Ripple announced its cooperation with South Korea’s Yonsei University (연세대학교) and joined its “University Blockchain Research Initiative” (UBRI). This new collaboration makes Yonsei University the 58th UBRI partner of Ripple globally and the 12th academic institution in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in the program. The move symbolizes Ripple’s continued commitment to driving blockchain education and innovation globally.
According to an official press release, Yonsei University will launch a multi-year collaboration focusing on blockchain technology research in industries such as artificial intelligence, finance, information systems and management. This collaboration will not only advance the school’s blockchain research, but will also provide practical learning opportunities, allowing students and faculty to gain experience in real-world challenges, and provide support by bringing another respected academic institution into the XRP Ledger (XRPL ) verifier network to further enhance the "credibility and neutrality" of XRPL.
Jun Kyung Auh, associate professor of finance and artificial intelligence at Yonsei University, said of this cooperation: "We are pleased to become the latest partner of Ripple's UBRI project, which allows us to further explore cutting-edge research industries and deepen our understanding of blockchain in understanding of the financial and management industry implications. I believe our students and faculty will gain tremendous learning opportunities from this collaboration and contribute to the global blockchain ecosystem.”

Ripple’s global expansion strategy and future prospects
Since its launch in 2018, Ripple’s UBRI initiative has achieved significant global impact and received over $60 million in funding. The program aims to accelerate the adoption and interoperability of digital assets worldwide by providing strategic support, technical resources and financial sponsorship. The addition of Yonsei University not only further strengthens Ripple’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, but also demonstrates its continued commitment to promoting blockchain technology innovation and education.
In this collaboration, Yonsei University will establish an XRP Ledger (XRPL) verification node. XRPL validating nodes play a key role in auditing transaction proposals from a specific group of trusted validators (called the Unique Node List, UNL), helping to increase the security and decentralization of the network. This move not only helps strengthen Yonsei University’s capabilities in blockchain research, but also provides practical learning opportunities for students and faculty, while strengthening the credibility and neutrality of XRPL by including the school into the validator network. sex.
Eric van Miltenburg, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Ripple, said: "Yonsei University is an industry leader in academic excellence in South Korea, and we are pleased to welcome them as our newest UBRI partner. By supporting their innovative research and education programs, we are not only building a strong presence in South Korea but also It has promoted the development of the blockchain industry and empowered the next generation of leaders and innovators in this industry.”
Strengthen blockchain education and expand functionality and influence in the Asia-Pacific market
This collaboration with Yonsei University further strengthens Ripple’s global strategy to expand capabilities in blockchain innovation and education, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. In June this year, Ripple announced the launch of the XRP Ledger Japan and Korea Fund, which is specifically designed to support XRPL innovation in the Japanese and Korean markets, covering multiple aspects such as corporate cooperation, developer subsidies, new venture investments, and community growth activities.
After Yonsei University joins, it will work hand in hand with other partners in the Asia-Pacific region such as Korean universities. Since joining the UBRI program in 2018, the Korean university has been actively involved in the XRPL ecosystem and runs an active XRPL verification node on campus and also allocates some of its funds to other blockchain projects in the region. These initiatives demonstrate Ripple’s ongoing commitment to advancing innovation in blockchain technology and education.
This time, Ripple and Yonsei University will jointly explore the application prospects of blockchain technology in the financial and management industries, and through practical operations and academic research, lay the foundation for the future adoption of global digital assets and promote the development and progress of the digital economy.
