Movement aims to be Ethereum’s “first fast” Layer-2 scaler. Co-founder Rushi Manche claims the network will be able to process twice as many transactions per second as its fastest competitor. The testnet, which launched on July 30, has processed over 12,000 transactions per second and could theoretically reach 30-50 thousand TPS.
Polygon stands out as the Layer-2 blockchain with the highest real TPS at 190 TPS, while Solana is the fastest blockchain with 1,053 TPS. Movement’s speed is based on the Move programming language developed by Facebook for its Diem project. Move can achieve high TPS by processing transactions simultaneously.
There are 44 DApps on the testnet, with Telegram-based Mini Apps accounting for a tenth of the total TPS volume. Manche notes that users are shifting to more consumer and social applications.
A launch date for the Movement mainnet has not yet been announced. Share your thoughts in the comments!
