Odaily Planet Daily News Interest rate options traders have increased their bets that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates by 50 basis points this month, reflecting the market's growing speculation that policymakers will take aggressive action to prevent the economy from getting into trouble. Currently, swap contracts show that the probability of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates by 50 basis points this month is about one-third. Priya Misra, a portfolio manager at JPMorgan Asset Management, said: "The labor market has slowed down and is now attracting the attention of the Federal Reserve. Considering that the current fund rate is between 5.25-5.5%, the economy is slowing down, and the lag between monetary policy and the economy is notoriously long and variable. I think it is very reasonable to initially cut interest rates by 50 basis points." (Jinshi)
