According to TechFlow, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), a security AI startup co-founded by Ilya Sutskever, former chief scientist of OpenAI, announced the completion of a $1 billion financing, with a valuation of $5 billion. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, DST Global, SV Angel and NFDG.

SSI currently has 10 employees and plans to use the funds to acquire computing power and recruit top talent. Sutskever serves as chief scientist, Daniel Levy as chief scientist, and Gross is responsible for computing power and financing.

Sutskever stressed that SSI will take a different approach to AI scaling than OpenAI and plans to work with cloud service providers and chip companies to meet its computing needs, but has not yet decided on specific partners.
