According to TechFlow, on September 3, The Block reported that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a report saying that North Korean hackers are "actively targeting" Web3 industry employees in an attempt to steal company crypto assets. The FBI pointed out that these hackers use complex social engineering strategies and are even able to deceive individuals with high technical knowledge.

It is reported that North Korean hackers have been studying targets related to cryptocurrency ETFs in recent months and may plan to launch malicious cyber activities against these companies. Their strategies include impersonating company executives, creating false scenarios, and inducing employees to download malicious applications. To guard against these threats, the FBI recommends that companies avoid storing encrypted wallet information on connected devices and establish a security system to verify the identity of company personnel. As of July 2024, North Korean cybercriminals have caused a total loss of $3 billion in crypto assets.
