KOR Protocol launches new AI player to enable web3 projects to license songs using IP
KOR Protocol, a blockchain-based entertainment platform backed by venture capital studio Animoca Brands, is launching KOR Player.
The new tool is an AI music engine that allows web3 projects to integrate IP-licensed music and digital projects into virtual environments, providing musicians and developers with a new way to collaborate, with the player allowing creators to upload and remix music, while artists can track their on-chain creator income.
KOR Protocol’s lead launch partner is Pixelynx, an interactive music ecosystem founded by industry executives and championed by Canadian DJ Joel Zimmerman Deadmau5, which powered Netflix’s The Black Mirror Experience in February 2024.
According to a press release shared with OpenSea, KOR Player is now open to developers, and those interested can apply for early access and technical documentation by filling out a registration form.
Adidas to launch first virtual avatar product
Adidas is about to launch its first avatar product for its approximately 20,000 NFT holders, doubling down on its web3 ambitions. The new avatar is part of an ongoing storyline at the company’s digital studio, ALTS by adidas.
While details have yet to be revealed, excited collectors have begun sharing plans to use these avatars across web2 and web3 metaverse worlds, with the avatars rumored to be interoperable.
Snowfro forged the last Chromie Squiggle
Generative art enthusiasts witnessed the end of an era: on August 21, ArtBlocks founder and digital artist Erick “Snowfro” Calderon minted the last Chromie Squiggle to the wallet address of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
The minting marks the end of a four-year saga for this generative art project, which is widely regarded as one of the earliest and most notable NFT art collections.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will feature Chromie Squiggle#9999in the exhibition Digital Witness: Revolutions in Design, Photography, and Film, which opens November 24.
The Forgotten Runiverse "New Foundation" Open Beta
Calling all decentralized gamers: players can now participate in the free public beta launch of Forgotten Runeworld, a new MMORPG based on the magical fictional world of the Forgotten Order of Rune Wizards, a collection of pixel art NFTs built on the Ethereum blockchain.
The beta is free to play until September 7, and gamers can explore new features such as customizable homes, guild battles, and dungeons.
Otherside Project Dragon releases episode 2
Otherside, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) metaverse, returns with Project Dragon: Episode 2 on August 29 at 6 p.m.
Set in the virtual city of Meetropolis within Otherside, Project Dragon blends MMORPG gameplay elements with large-scale battles and other action-packed events.
Episode 2 builds on the success of BAYC’s first playtest, which attracted a virtual crowd of over 1,000 participants and two charity poker tournaments, with the BAYC team partnering with metaverse startup studio Improbable to host these monthly events.
Liquid Death teamed up to let users cast on Base via jars
Crypto platform Coinbase is bringing web3 to grocery stores with its new partnership, which will see water brand Liquid Death display QR codes on its cans over the next six months connecting consumers to Coinbase’s second-layer blockchain, Base.
There, they will be able to purchase NFT artworks directly from their phones — while staying hydrated.
Summer Wagner's "Central American Fever Dream" celebrates opening night
Rust Belt artist Summer Wagner’s first solo exhibition, Middle America Fever Dream, opens in Los Angeles on August 29. Wagner’s work blends digital and traditional art into a narrative, multi-part series that explores the struggles of a family in the post-industrial Midwest.
Prior to the exhibition, Wagner's work received a lot of attention when White Walls, an app that allows users to display artworks on smart TVs, announced that it would also release works from the Midamerican Fever Dream series.
Danny Cole Launches “Creature Cubes” on Base
On August 29th, Creature World, an immersive art series by New York artist Danny Cole, released a new series of digital sculptures on Base that uses the ERC-404 token standard and incorporates some interesting new mechanics.
As described by Creature World, minting Creature Cubes results in additional CUBE tokens and requires some experimental burning mechanisms.

STEPN GO creates limited edition virtual G-SHOCK sneakers
STEPN, a web3 lifestyle app that inspires people to exercise, has just launched an exclusive sneaker in collaboration with G-SHOCK's sports series G-SQUAD. A limited lottery event was held from August 26th to 29th, with 800 pairs of sneakers to be drawn.
Designed with G-SHOCK’s colors and shapes in mind, the virtual kicks resemble products from the iconic watch brand, with different styles for every level of training, from “Walkers” to “Trainers.”
BAYC and BAPE announce second season of streetwear collection
What do you get when you pair a bored ape with a bathing ape? Second round of streetwear collaborations, on August 23, BAYC hinted that it will once again be working with Japanese streetwear brand A BATHING APE on a September apparel collection.
If it’s anything like the BAYC x BAPE collaboration that’s set to launch in September 2023, the limited-edition collection will be available to BAYC holders first before the public sees it.
