ChainCatcher reported that according to DL News, Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive in poor health, pleaded with a Nigerian judge on Monday to allow him to undergo back surgery because he suffered a herniated disc.

“I have been complaining about this problem but it has never been resolved,” Gambaryan, 40, said as his money laundering trial continued in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

“Due to lack of proper treatment, I have sustained permanent nerve damage and that is the reason for my current condition where I cannot walk,” added Gambaryan, who limped into the courtroom after being denied the use of a wheelchair.

Gambaryan, who has denied the prosecution’s allegations, has been suffering from pneumonia and malaria since he was incarcerated in a prison near Abuja in April.
