CESS is a decentralized cloud storage network and CD²N network based on blockchain, which supports online data storage and real-time sharing, and provides a full-stack solution for the storage and retrieval of high-frequency dynamic data in Web3.

CESS data value network is a Layer 1 infrastructure built with the DePIN concept, featuring decentralization, efficiency, security, privacy, and scalability. CESS supports large-scale commercial storage and can carry phenomenal decentralized applications (dApps); CESS supports data value and the free circulation/sharing of data value, while using a trustless approach to achieve user data privacy protection and return data sovereignty to data owners, thereby building a prosperous, diverse, and data asset-sovereign new data economy ecosystem.

CESS Project Development

Overview

This week, we completed an online upgrade task for the consensus node. This upgrade increased the frequency of random challenges for storage nodes and adjusted the reward calculation ratio for random challenges, so that storage nodes that store user files can get more reward gains. This week, we also completed the repair of online problems such as the probabilistic inability to calculate idle random challenge proofs when the storage node is in a specific state, the inability to use TEE Node to accelerate data authentication, and the continuous submission of failed transactions leading to increased transaction fees. In addition, this week, we also fixed the problem that DeOSS could not preview video files online and the failure rate of uploading user file shards to storage nodes was too high.

1. Blockchain Network

CESS testnet v0.7.6 consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node) and are also "data authentication stations" (by TEE Workers) in the CESS network. Storage nodes are responsible for providing verifiable storage space and are "data storage pools" in the CESS network. Here are the progress this week:

Consensus Node [v0.7.7]

(1) Completed the online upgrade of consensus nodes and increased the frequency of random challenges for storage nodes;

(2) Optimize the consensus node TEE Node management module so that failed TEE Nodes can be cleaned up in a timely manner;

(3) Adjust the calculation ratio of random challenge rewards, and adjust the rewards ratio of idle computing power and in-service computing power to 5% and 95%;

Storage Node [v0.7.11]

(1) Fixed the issue where the idle random challenge proof could not be generated probabilistically when the storage node was in a certain state;

(2) Fixed the issue where storage nodes could not prioritize using custom TEE Nodes to speed up idle authentication;

(3) Fixed the issue where storage nodes repeatedly submitted failed transactions, causing transaction fees to increase significantly;

2. Products

CESS is committed to providing practical storage services and CD²N services for Web3, meeting large-scale commercial storage needs and achieving millisecond-level data retrieval and return. CESS pioneered the decentralized object storage service (DeOSS), and the product ecosystem of the CESS network has gradually become richer and more prosperous. It has currently incubated innovative applications such as online file sharing tools (DeShare), public chain snapshot storage services, and CESS network disks. You are welcome to experience them. The following is the progress of this week:

Object Storage Service (DeOSS)

(1) Fixed the issue where DeOSS could not play user videos normally due to inconsistent return status codes;

(2) Fixed the issue where the failure rate of DeOSS uploading user file fragments to storage nodes was too high;

(3) Complete the architecture upgrade of the CESS CD²N caching node to enable it to have basic parallel computing capabilities;

(4) Completed the testing of the static resource distribution function of CESS CD²N cache nodes and fixed related issues;

3. Feedback and Support

(1) Your feedback is important! Please file issues in CIPs (https://github.com/CESSProject/CIPs) to share your ideas with us! If you are interested in CESS, you can connect with developers in the CESS Developer Community (https://github.com/CESSProject). We always welcome you to share your experience!

CESS Testnet Progress

(1) According to CESS Scan (https://scan.cess.network/), as of August 25, the CESS test network v0.7.7 Venus version has been released for 25 days, with a total of more than 5,556 storage nodes successfully registered and 23 consensus nodes, providing 42.11 PiB of storage space for the entire network, and 10.88 PiB of verified storage space. If test users encounter problems in the process of building nodes, they can go to the CESS official Discord (https://discord.gg/cess) for help.

(2) CESS's latest incentive testnet Venus has been officially launched on July 31, 2024! The testnet incentive activity is ongoing. Participants in the storage node test will receive points and can be used to redeem the mainnet CESS Token. The total amount of incentives will be determined based on the miner's effective storage capacity at the end of this version of the testnet. For details on the incentive rules, please refer to the article "CESS Officially Launches Testnet Venus, Innovative Decentralized Storage + CD²N". For details on the final miner node test points reward in the previous round, please see (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18HIJaJ74t5CVqPIEa7dtIKvD-kniVYvg_VhPwJJES3Y/edit?gid=0#gid=0).

(3) CESS invites you to join the IEEE P3233 International Standard Release Conference! In February this year, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) approved the industry standard proposal P3233 "Blockchain-based Distributed Storage Protocol Specification" applied by CESS. In order to further promote the development of this industry standard, CESS will co-host the launch meeting with IEEE. (For details, please see the article "Invitation Letter | IEEE P3233 International Standard Release Conference")

(4) Last week, CESS hosted a Space themed "How will the popular Meme affect Web3 investment decisions?" around the hot topic of cryptocurrencies. We invited a number of experts in the industry, including CESS co-founder Joe, Cluster Protocol co-founder YJ, and NOVA Strategy founder, to introduce the opportunities and challenges of Meme. This online event received a total of 27.4K views. CESS will continue to hold high-quality online events. Please stay tuned for the next exciting event!

(5) The CESS Global Ambassador Program is still ongoing! More than 631 people have applied to join. If you join the CESS Global Ambassador Program now, you can enjoy multiple benefits. Please click on the article "CESS Global Ambassador Program: Officially Open for Application!" for details.

Welcome to CESS!
