According to BlockBeats, on September 1, Michael Shellenberger, a writer for San Francisco magazine, wrote that the Brazilian government blocked X (formerly Twitter) yesterday and threatened that citizens would face a fine of $8,900 per day if they used the platform.

Musk retweeted a supportive tweet, saying that Twitter respects Brazilian laws, but when asked to break them, Twitter has the right to refuse. Ironically, while Twitter may be banned for not complying with laws elsewhere, it was banned in Brazil for complying with the law.
