ChainCatcher news: Despite the recent turmoil in the cryptocurrency market, the price of Bitcoin remains at a premium in South Korea. As of 4 pm EST, Bitcoin was trading at $59,002 per unit, but in South Korea, the exchange rate reached $59,900, a premium of 1.52%.
This phenomenon has persisted since October 30, 2023, only falling to negative values on August 22, 2024. According to Cryptoquant, the price of BTC was around $60,500 per coin that day, and then climbed to $64,000 in the next two days. Although the price in South Korea was 0.36% lower than the global average on August 22, the drop was short-lived.
August has ended with Bitcoin trading at a 1.52% premium on South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, or about $898 higher.
