Let me slowly check and share some updates about Ex Populus for you!

This is the news for September 2021:

Ex Populus announced that it has signed and funded its first game, LAMO, and plans to help the LAMO team expand the project into a full Metaverse. Ex Populus believes that what the LAMO team has built is the most promising metaverse project in the expanding gaming and collectibles space, and looks forward to bringing the project to millions of fans around the world.

What is LAMO?

The LAMOverse project is ambitious and was created by a talented team. This independent studio has spent the last few years developing and refining their large-scale metaverse ecosystem. What started as a couple of large mobile titles in partnership with high-profile influencers like Smile Inc. eventually evolved into a cast of the world’s most famous influencers becoming playable characters in an open and expansive PC battle royale game.

In addition to the PC game, LAMO also includes Vinyl collectibles that are almost identical to the playable characters in the game. When these figures are scanned by the LAMO mobile app, the entire AR unboxing experience unfolds. The in-game characters, Vinyl figures, and AR experience are all tied together via QR codes, so players and owners can take their collections from one digital environment to another.

A brief history of LAMO

In 2019, LAMO hit a rough patch with their first Early Access release for their PC game. The team decided to do an Early Access release on Steam to start getting early feedback from players and eventually prepare for a full release. Unfortunately, the LAMO team suffered from some short-sightedness that caused the company to halt production and improvements on the PC game almost immediately after its Early Access release, pursuing a mobile-first strategy instead (oops!). Additionally, the project was being reviewed by one of the industry's largest game publishers for a significant advance, but with the onset of the pandemic in 2020, those negotiations ultimately fell apart and the company ultimately ran out of money.

Most of the Ex Populus team had met with the LAMO team at some point in 2020, but Ex Populus the company did not exist yet. By March 2021, when Ex Populus was founded as an independent game publisher, NFTs were beginning to gain mainstream attention. It was clear that the LAMO ecosystem based on collectible characters and Vinyl figures was a good fit for web3 and leveraging NFT capabilities.

LAMOverse — A Bright Future

The future of the LAMOverse is just around the corner and it looks bright. Behind the scenes, the LAMO team is working on re-releasing a new LAMO mobile app that offers utility and gamification through AR integration with social networks. The Lamo team is also expanding their original Battle Royale game into a vast survival-based open world, which should enter Early Access sometime in 2022. The Metaverse will be a new title separate from the original Lamo game, which is now offline. If you don’t want to wait that long, that’s okay. The LAMOverse team will soon begin releasing digital versions of the new characters on Ex Populus’ new NFT marketplace. Stay tuned on the Ex Populus Discord. Later this year, you can expect a whole new line-up of characters that you’ll be able to play in the LAMOverse later on. While you wait for the new Metaverse to become accessible, you’ll soon be able to collect and trade LAMOs with your friends.
