FA (36), a young man from Bandung, was arrested after breaking into a crypto account worth hundreds of millions of Rupiah. His actions began after buying a used cellphone (HP) online in July 2024. The cellphone, which turned out to belong to the victim with the initials RE, had been missing since May 28, 2024 and was sold on a marketplace with a cash on delivery (COD) payment mechanism.
After taking control of the cellphone, FA found the victim's Crypto Binance account in it. Realizing that there were crypto assets, FA logged into the account and withdrew assets worth IDR 311,332,221 to the Indodax account. The money from the withdrawal was then transferred to two different accounts that also belonged to FA.
As a result of his actions, FA was charged with Article 30 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 46 paragraph (1) and/or Article 32 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 48 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.
